Mallorca guide
3 days on the Mediterranean sea
Mallorca had been sitting on my bucket list for years — turquoise water, sleepy fishing towns, and plates of fresh seafood eaten by the sea. When I finally made it there, it was just as magical as I imagined.
This trip wasn’t about cramming in every sight or landmark. Instead, we slowed down. We spent our days basking on some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve been to, wandering through quiet little towns, and lingering over some amazing seafood while the sun set. It was simple, unhurried, and oh so relaxing.
Where we stayed
Mallorca is a fairly big island with so much to see, but if your main reason for going is the beaches (like mine), I recommend spending the majority of your time on the east side. The towns are smaller, quieter, and full of charm compared to the busier parts of the island.
We opted for no car since we were only there for a long weekend. If I were there any longer, I would recommend renting one, but we did just fine without. We flew from Barcelona to Palma airport and taxied to Cala Figuera (about 45minutes). From that area, all the best beaches are a 10-20 minute ride away.
Cala Figuera is where we stayed. It’s a working fishing port, and because it doesn’t have a beach, it feels beautifully disconnected from the tourist side of the island. We picked it for its charm and its proximity to all the best beaches. If you’re after something lively, go for Cala D’Or nearby, which has more of a town feel and beaches right in town.
